History of ACNielsen
ACNielsen was established in the United States in 1923 by Arthur C. Nielsen, Sr., one of the founders of the modern marketing research industry. Among many innovations in consumer-focused marketing and media research, Mr Nielsen
was responsible for creating a unique retail-measurement technique that gave clients the first reliable, objective information about competitive performance and the impact of their marketing and sales programs on revenues and profits.

Today, ACNielsen is one of the largest businesses of VNU, a world leader in marketing information, media measurement and information and business media. ACNielsen's operations span more than 100 countries, headquarted in New York.
We have a number of offices located in the UK, our head office is located in Oxford. The I-Scan team is based in Newport, South Wales, in office building shown.
ACNielsen Facts
In 1918 Arthur C. Nielsen Sr. graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in engineering. His grades were so high that, to date, no one at the University has ever equalled his grade point average.
In 1954 ACNielsen became the first company to use a computer - an IBM 650 - for commercial business.
ACNielsen was the first company to use electronic scanners - in 1967, to input type written information into a computer.
The UK was the first market ACNielsen entered out of the US, in 1939.
ACNielsen is the largest operator of consumer panels worldwide, covering more than 135,000 households in twenty countries.
Antarctica is the only continent in which ACNielsen does not operate.
